WHAT HAVE WE LEARNED IN ITS?
This document begins with a presentation by Joseph M. Sussman at the Institute of transportation Engineers 2000 International Meeting. Sussman first identifies the three dimensions of Intelligent Transportation Systems, which include technology, systems, and institutions. These dimensions are then viewed by the perspectives of customers and operators. The remainder of the document highlights information presented at seven roundtable sessions. These include: 1) freeway and incident management; 2) arterial management; 3) traveler information systems; 4) transit management; 5) cross-cutting technologies; 6) commercial vehicles; and, 7) cross-cutting institutional issues. The presentation concludes with a discussion of lessons learned from partnership, operator, and customer perspectives.
