EFFECTS OF POLICE WITHDRAWL FROM TRAFFIC CONTROL, A COMPARATIVE STUDY

Traffic law enforcement systems in Australia and New Zealand are compared. In New Zealand there is a municipal traffic department, separate from the police, whose sole responsibility is to regulate traffic, while in Australia the police department performas this function. Relations between the police and the community were found to be significantly better in New Zealand than in Australia.
