CONGESTION PRICING TO IMPROVE AIR TRAVEL SAFETY. CHAPTER 12 OF TRANSPORTATION SAFETY IN AN AGE OF DEREGULATION
This chapter points out that congestion pricing for air travel improves aviation safety. Congestion pricing leads to a decrease in air traffic congestion, and reduced congestion increases air safety. The author discusses the theory of optimal pricing and capacity of congestable facilities, relates an extension of the theory to treat safety, and presents a practical application of the relationship between air travel safety and congestion.
