TRAINING FOR MAINTENANCE - RESULTS OF AN INTERNATIONAL SURVEY

FORMATION A L'ENTRETIEN - RESULTATS D'UNE ENQUETE INTERNATIONALE

The objective of the "Training for Maintenance" project was to increase the quality of road maintenance by improving the knowledge of all parties concerned through training for the various aspects of maintenance, such as the techniques themselves, network condition surveys, administration, the supervision of work, safety during work, etc. As a first step, a worldwide inventory was made of institutes offering training for maintenance. The first survey questionnaire was circulated in 1996 and 1997, and closed in early 1998. The second step was to collect experience gained by training centers. A second questionnaire was sent in mid-1998 to a number of organizations that had replied in the first survey. This article provides information provided by responses received in the second survey.
