THE TRUTH ABOUT MERGERS
Mergers permit railroads to do more with less track, fewer yards and terminals, and far fewer employees. It is argued that without mergers, no amount of regulatory or tax reform could have preserved private sector railroading. The article looks at other elements of the industry that are seeking strength in union.
