MEASURES FOR ROAD WORKS ON DIFFERENT TYPES OF HIGHWAYS

Proposals are presented for protective and warning measures taken at road works on different types of highway. It is concluded that uniformity of the system used is required, that signs and markings at road works should be visible in daylight as well as in darkness. At road works there are four main aspects: the safety of the traffic, the safety of the road mender, the traffic flow and the efficiency of the road works. Good cooperation between the road authorities, police and constructors is needed. The covering abstract of the conference is IRRD abstract no 223194. /TRRL/
