FILTERING AND PREDICTION TECHNIQUES IN RADAR TRACKING OF VEHICLES FOR ASSISTED DRIVING
This paper describes an advanced driver information system that makes use of radar and infrared sensors along the roadside. The system tracks vehicles in the coverage area and transmits a picture of vehicle positions and velocities to a control center. The processed data then is retransmitted to devices onboard the vehicles. The paper describes the tracking and prediction mechanisms used for updating the traffic picture at the control center and for reducing the amount of data that is retransmitted to the onboard devices.
