FIRST CLASS POSTS : THE ABILITY TO GIVE MOTORISTS REAL-TIME WARNINGS OF WHAT LIES AHEAD WOULD PREVENT MANY TRAFFIC INCIDENTS FROM DEVELOPING INTO SOMETHING MORE SERIOUS
This article describes Companion, a motorist aid system that has roadside posts as its primary element. The posts, mounted at 50 meter intervals, are equipped with LED light modules and communication or sensor modules. Additional new features for Companion include automatic activation in fog, the use of microwave detectors, and integration of automatic incident detection.
