TIME HEADWAY IN CAR FOLLOWING AND OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE DURING UNEXPECTED BRAKING
This paper describes a study in which a driving simulator was used to study the relationship between car following behavior and braking performance. The researchers pursued a theory in which individual differences in tactical car driving behavior may be related to skills of the driving task through a process of adaptation. Results support this theory of adaptation on an individual level.
