AN AUTONOMOUS GUIDED VEHICLE FOR CARGO HANDLING APPLICATIONS
In this paper, the author presents an autonomous guided vehicle (AGV) system to be used in transporting ISO standard cargo containers in port environments. It features a navigation system that is based on using millimeter-wave radar sensors that detect beacons placed at known locations in the environment. The paper focuses on these three aspects: 1) the vehicle design and onboard systems architecture; 2) the development of the navigation system; and 3) the experimental program which validates the vehicle system.
