Today, low-floor rail cars are common in European cities. They offer comfortable boarding and shorter stops at stations, because passengers do not have to climb stairs to enter the vehicle. Light rail also becomes accessible to the mobility impaired, as well as to parents with baby carriages, or people with bicycles.
