NEW BALTIC SEA FERRY
30 knots will be the cruising speed of the new Baltic Sea ferry, Finnjet, now being outfitted for Finnlines at the Wartsila, Finland shipyard and due to go into service next May. The ship will make the run between Helsinki and Travemuende, Germany, in 22 hrs carrying 1,500 passengers and 350 automobiles. Built to icebreaker specifications, Finnjet will be powered by twin gas turbines, each rated at 28,000 kW at 3,800 r/min.
