IGBT TECHNOLOGY IN HIGH POWER APPLICATIONS
A new modular power converter (MPC) opens the door to insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) technology for high power applications in electrical traction. Some of the main advantages of the environmentally friendly MPC family discussed include: compact, light weight design; modular design with full component access; power scaling enabling a tailoring of performance to customer's needs; and simple, user friendly repair and maintenance procedures.
