LOCATION AND TRANSPORTATION IMPACTS OF PRIVATIZING THE MARKETING OF WESTERN CANADIAN OATS
Western Canadian oat production declined over most of the 20th century, due mainly to the decreased demand for oats as a feed grain and for human consumption. The objectives of this paper are to 1) present the structural changes in Western Canadian oat industry in the 1990s and 2) to identify the logistical and transportation factors contributing to these changes subsequent to the decentralization of Western Canadian oat marketing.
