FAST-TRACK FUNDING
The South Carolina Department of Transportation has implemented one of the most innovative highway and bridge construction programs in the United States. With creative financing and contracting, the department is on its way to completing 27 years of road and bridge projects in just 7 years. Among the methods the state is using are bonds to be paid by future federal funds, a state infrastructure bank, and a nonprofit corporation that can fund transportation projects.
