THE UTAH EXPERIENCE "THE USE OF CONTRACTORS IN THE RIGHT OF WAY ACQUISITION PROCESS
In establishing strategic objectives, the Utah Department of Transportation identified six goals of which two were right of way specific: (1) preserve and improve the transportation infrastructure, and (2) provide quality products and services to our customers, and be effective, efficient and responsive. The Utah Department of Transportation has had dramatic results by partially privatizing its R/W function. However, departments of transportation are always open to other ideas to accomplish transportations objectives in the most efficient, effective, and result based manner.
