RIGHT OF WAY CONCERNS IN DESIGN/BUILD
Design-build is an established method of project delivery that combines design and construction into a single contract, establishing single point of responsibility and accountability. Nationally, the deign-build approach to product delivery is receiving a tidal wave of attention. At a recent national symposium in Washington, D.C., the experts following the major construction industry predicted that 25-25 percent of all public and/or private construction projects will be let as design -build in 1977. The primary objectives of the design-build concept are: (1) to reduce total project delivery time; (2) to promote innovative and cost savings design-construction solutions; and (3) to place greater reliance on private sector skills and capacities. The benefits that can be expected from design-build projects are: (1) lower costs; (2) a more streamlined process; (3) reduced need for change orders; and (4) expanded value of our scare resources and the ability to cover more projects.
