SAO PAULO METRO - AN EFFICIENT SYSTEM THAT NEEDS EXPANSION
The Sao Paulo Metro is 30 years old. It is one of the most crowded metro systems in the world, and carries around 2.5 million passengers per working day on its 50 km (31.8 mi) long network. The paper recognizes the level of service the system provides and outlines some of the present plans to expand the network to accommodate the increase in population and accompanying increase in ridership.
