THE COLD WEATHER EMERGENCY: VARIOUS SETTINGS, ONE RESCUE MISSION
This article discusses how to treat patients for hypothermia. It is addressed to the emergency medical team, who will be the first individuals on the scene and will be responsible for transporting the patient, if transportation is indicated. It advises that hypothermia can occur indoors, noting that urban hypothermia accounts for more than half of the 700+ fatalities attributed each year to exposure to the cold. The article relates symptoms of hypothermia, and key factors in its treatment.
