THE ULTIMATE GLOBAL LOGISTICS CHALLENGE--PERISHABLES: POST HARVEST TREATS FOR PERISHABLES
Temperature is the characteristic of the postharvest environment that has the greatest impact on the storage life of horticultural crops. Good temperature management is the most important and simplest procedure for delaying product deterioration. The Air Cargo Transportation Research Group, with the support and collaboration of Perisco Incorporated at the International Airport of Montreal at Mirabel, Canada, have been working on the development of new techniques to maintain the quality of perishable product transported by air. Even though there is still a lot of work to be performed in order to understand the effect of different parameters on the quality of the commodities during ground operation as well as in flight, this collaboration will provide to the air cargo industry significant development for the future.
