LEICESTER ENVIRONMENTAL ROAD TOLLING SCHEME (LERTS)
This paper describes the Leicester Environmental Road Tolling Scheme (LERTS), a demonstration of electronic road tolling in England. The project provided an opportunity to assess the extent to which road pricing could contribute towards fulfilling traffic management and planning goals. The impact of toll collection, the use of smart cards, and participants' attitudes towards the smart card use were also examined.
