DATA CAPTURE TECHNIQUES FOR RTI USABILITY EVALUATION

RTI product quality must be ensured by strict attention to the issue of usability. This paper describes data capture techniques that are valid in usability evaluation of RTI systems. The techniques are presented within a conceptual framework of multi-level usability analysis. This relates the levels of the driving task to the different levels of drivers' motor and cognitive behavior. The contribution of various types of data, vehicle dynamics, drivers' control actions, visual behavior, physiological measures, verbal protocols and interviews are discussed.
