DATA MANAGEMENT FOR BANGKOK METROPOLITAN ADMINISTRATION'S BRIDGE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
This paper focuses on applying the new data management approach to the existing Bridge Management System (BMS) for the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA). The existing BMS needs to be expanded and modified in order to serve the growing demand of Bangkok's infrastructure. This research is part of BMA's project on improving the capabilities of the existing system. BMA has the responsibility to maintain most of the bridges in Bangkok areas. The concepts of data management, influence diagram, data flow diagram, knowledge structuring and theory of classification are reviewed in this paper. The paper presents an approach that combines all these concepts discussed above and adapts them to the data management process for the modified BMS. Data management process is one of the first steps that can help structure and understand the data collection process effectively. For the covering abstract see IRRD E104152.
