ITS IN ECONOMICS IN TRANSITION: RESULTS OF DETAILED SURVEY

The context of ITS implementation in Economics in Transition (EIT) is progressing at a relatively rapid pace. The ITS Committee of the World Road Association (PIARC) has developed a survey to assist in the preparation of an ITS Handbook. The survey results concerning the country profiles and case studies related to EITs or former EITs are summarized in this paper (Korea, Malaysia, China, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, India, Brazil and Hungary). Key survey questions were related to country transportation and infrastructure statistics and issues, ITS organization and planning, implemented and under-implementation applications, priorities, next steps and international co-operation requested. Conclusions give the developing trends by comparing 1998 results to 1997. For the covering abstract see IRRD E102946.
