EVALUATION OF DYNAMIC ROUTE GUIDANCE/DELAY INFORMATION SYSTEM QUO VADIS

This article presents an evaluation of the QUO VADIS dynamic route guidance/delay information system in operation in Aalborg, Denmark. The system gathers information on traffic volume and occupancy by means of detectors. The information is converted and displayed on variable message signs (VMS). Two types of information have been tested: delay information for the bridge or tunnel and route guidance information for three selected destinations. In the QUO VADIS project, a number of evaluation methods have been used. The analysis looks at drivers' reactions and attitudes towards VMS, quantitative and qualitative effects, and organizational and managerial experience.
