DRIVING WALES FORWARD. A STRATEGIC REVIEW OF THE WELSH TRUNK ROADS PROGRAMME

A consultation document "A strategic review of the Welsh trunk roads programme" was published on 31 July 1997. This report addresses the issues raised in the consultation document. A new core network of trunk roads in Wales is proposed with a new analysis of transport problems and identification of solutions. A set of strategic priorities for the development of the trunk road network is proposed, relating to: maintaining the network on a minimum whole life cost basis; making better use of the existing network; and development of a trunk road safety plan to improve network safety. This report is published in English and Welsh.
