COMMENTARY: SEAT BELT USE IN ARGENTINA - A 10-YEAR STRUGGLE
This paper discusses the work of "Luchemos por la Vida", a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization oriented toward public good, striving to prevent traffic accidents in Buenos Aires. The group's name means "let's fight for life", and starting in 1991, their goal has been to educate the public about the advantages of seat belt use. After 10 years of systematic and continued work, seat belt use is now part of the government's agenda, and there is a high rate of "almost voluntary" seat belt use: in the City of Buenos Aires, it has reached 26.9% and in national highways 58.9%.
