METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE COEFFICIENT OF PERMEABILITY OF CLAYS
Yoshikuni et al. (1995) proposed a new method for direct determination of the coefficient of permeability of clays from the constant rate of strain consolidation tests. In order to confirm the reliability of this method, the constant rate of strain consolidation tests under 3 kinds of strain rates were carried out on 4 kinds of clays. Permeability tests using a flow pump and the conventional consolidation test were also performed on the same clays to compare the coefficient of permeability obtained from each test. Results show that the coefficient of permeability obtained by the proposed method from the constant rate of strain consolidation tests agreed with the coefficient of permeability obtained from the permeability tests.
