NUMERICAL INVESTIGATION OF FIBER REINFORCED POLYMERS POSTSTRENGTHENED CONCRETE SLABS. DISCUSSION AND CLOSURE
A discussion of an earlier paper with the aforementioned title by M. Hormann, H. Menrath, et al., published in this journal (Volume 128, Number 5, May 2002), is presented. The discussers state that in their experience, and demonstrated in this work by 2 examples, they do not support the authors' contention that costly 3-D modeling is necessary for determining the bearing capacity or the load deflection behavior of reinforced concrete slabs poststrengthened with fiber reinforced polymers. In closure, the authors respond to the discussers' position.
