CLIMATOLOGICAL FACTORS AND TEMPERATURE RELATIONS BETWEEN AIR, ROAD SURFACE AND UNDERGROUND MATERIALS IN ROADS
ENERGIUTBYTET MELLAN ATMOSFAR OCH MARKYTA I SAMBAND MED TJALNEDTRANGNING
The intention with this literature survey has been to pay attention to the climatological factors and to take into consideration their importance for the temperature relations between air, road surface and underground material in a road section. The nature of radiation is discussed and the possibilities to calculate the radiation energy as well as the exchange of radiation between air and road surface. The basis and the possibilities for calculating the heat exchange through convection and conduction, precipitation, vaporization and condensation, and freezing and thawing are then treated in the same way. In some diagrams the temperature variations on different levels below the road surface and in the air as functions of radiation are shown. Finally the conditions for slipperiness caused by road icing are discussed.
