CHILD RESTRAINT SYSTEMS. BUCKLES WITH INSERTED PUSH BUTTON WITH ABOUT 50 N REQUIRED OPENING FORCE AND CHILD SEAT HARNESS - USE AND EVALUATION BY 40 FAMILIES
SKYDDSSYSTEM FOR BARN I BILAR. 40 FAMILJERS ANVANDNING OCH BEDOMNING AV TRYCKKNAPPSLAS MED CA 50 N OPPNINGSKRAFT SAMT AV SELAR TILL BILBARNSTOLAR
Forty buckles (having an inserted push button with a required opening force of 40 - 60 N) and harnesses (three- and four-point-belts) were allocated on the one hand to parents who had complained of their children opening the buckles, and on the other hand, to parents chosen at random. The new buckles had been elaborated and tested in a series of experiments at the National Road and Traffic Research Institute, but had never been tested in everyday use. All the parents were satisfied with the buckles after having used them during a period of 3 months (37 parents were very pleased with the buckles). A buckle with an inserted push button and with a required release force of 40 - 50 N is recommended. The parents were less satisfied with the harnesses than with the buckles. It would therefore be desirable to have both a four-point-belt and an improved version of the three-point-belt in the market giving the parents the right of option and, consequently, an adaption of the purchase to their own situation. /Author/
