DRYING OUT OF CONCRETE SPECIMENS AT EXCESS TEMPERATURE
UTTORKNING AV BETONGPROVKROPPAR VID OVERTEMPERATUR
Experiments have been carried out on the drying out of concrete specimens, which have been provided with a higher temperature than the ambient air by means of thermal radiation. The purpose of the experiments was to shed light on the moisture movements in external walls of concrete. The experiments were carried out in conjunction with a research project on external wall of concrete. The test temperatures were 23 degrees C in the air and 23 degrees, 38 degrees and 49 degrees C in the concrete. The structure of the concrete surface was also varied from grind to coarse-raked. The results indicate that the drying out rate is governed by differences in the partial pressure of the steam inside and outside the concrete and that the surface structure of the concrete affects this rate only during the first 24-hour period of the drying out phase. /Author/
