"SYSTEMATIC" SNOW REMOVAL
This article describes the need for snow and ice removal contractors to develop methodical systems in order to ensure profitability. The infrequency of snow and ice storms necessitates that a system be in place to rely on so that a specified routine can be followed when a storm strikes. A hypothesized snow removal system is described assuming a medium-sized contractor using more than 25 pieces of equipment. Areas of responsibility for supervisors, crew leaders, and dispatchers are outlined that incorporate the typical requests of customers in snow removal situations.
