HIGH SPEED TRAIN X2000 ON SOFT ORGANIC CLAY - MEASUREMENTS IN SWEDEN
The increase of train speed from 140 km/h (87.7 mi/h) to 200 km/h (124 mi/h) has resulted in some specific problems on different areas in Sweden. For tracks on a low embankment on soft clays considerable effects on the surroundings have been observed in certain places. Within an R&D project measurements of vertical deflections, pore pressure, particle acceleration and particle velocity were perfeormed for different train speeds up to 204 km/h (126.4 mi/h). Measurements were performed on the ground surface as well as in the soil. The aim of the measurements was to undestand the mechanism of the behavior, to evaluate the risk for soil degradation and to give input to desigt of appropriate measures.
