LOS ANGELES COUNTY METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY'S INTELLIGENT RADIO SYSTEM FOR MULTI-LINE OPERATION

This paper describes the intelligent radio system designed for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA). A trunking radio system was chosen, capable of providing a multitude of functions not available on conventional radio systems while providing an integrated radio system for all of the light rail lines. The paper explains trunking in generic terms and then focuses on the equipment selected for installation for the LACMTA.
