THE SIGNIFICANCE OF GEOMETRIC DESIGN FOR TRAFFIC SAFETY
DEN GEOMETRISKA UTFORMNINGENS BETYDELSE FOER TRAFIKSAEKERHETEN
Although a lot of research is done regarding traffic safety, very few of the results reach practising road engineers, and the object of this investigation was to give road engineers a summary of the relations between road accidents, expressed in terms of the accident index (number of accidents per 1 million vehicle km), and various road and traffic parameters. The diagrams presented are of a general character, and are to be regarded only as fairly rough approximations of the actual relations. It is also often difficult to isolate the influence of individual factors, since there is a high degree of covariation. /TRRL/
