REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS AND POPULATION IMPACT MODELLING: A THEORETICAL DEVELOPMENT

The purpose of this paper is to develop and to examine a model which predicts the impact of a regional transportation system on the spatial distribution of the region's population. Such a model is a valuable tool for regional planning because of the effect of the spatial distribution of population on a region's ability to achieve a number of its important goals. Miron also incorporates the role of non-transportation factors in urban growth.
