THE CALCULATION OF NIGHT VISIBILITY DISTANCES OF ROADWAY OBJECTS
This report discusses those elements of the automobile headlighting need to be considered in the evaluation of target detection under general road conditions of lighting, geometry and speed during night driving. The four major areas considered are: a) illumination and glare sources, b) road and target characteristics, c) observer characteristics, and d) the calculation procedure.
