WHY DETROIT'S GOING GREEN: FOREIGN CARMAKERS KNOW THERE'S MONEY TO BE MADE FROM CLEAN CARS, AND THE BIG THREE DON'T WANT TO EAT THEIR DUST.

Although initially reluctant to demonstrate any interest in or promote the idea of cleaner, pollution free automobiles, Detroit's big three have had a change of heart. Fearful of a foreign car providing an environmentally friendly product people want, Detroit has joined its global competition and is actively researching ways to build not just a cleaner car but a better one.
