PRELIMINARY DYNAMIC AND FATIGUE ANALYSIS USING DIRECTIONAL SPECTRA
The author presents a theory and mathematical basis for determining the ability of an offshore structure to withstand wave action. The analysis includes the spreading of wave energy directionally as well as by frequency. Tables are included to show the first application of the method to preliminary design of a proposed 1000-ft platform in the Gulf of Mexico.
