AN ITERATIVE METHOD OF OBTAINING THE HIC-VALUE IN THE CASE OF HEAD IMPACT
EIN VERFAHREN ZUR ITERATIVEN BESTIMMUNG DES HIC-WERTES BEIM KOPFAUFPRALL
The extreme value conditions for obtaining the HIC-value (head injury criterion) from the acceleration of the head during impact are derived. A rapidly converging iterative procedure is developed for calculating the HIC-value based on extreme conditions for functions of two variables. The HIC-value for any acceleration-time curve may be determined graphically with acceptable accuracy, which was not practicable hitherto. The functional relation derived can be used for reducing the computation time for existing methods of calculating HIC-values. /TRRL/
