NEW CONTROL AND INFORMATION SYSTEM FOR HIGH SPEED ROADS AND HIGHWAYS

NEUES LENKUNGS-UND INFORMATIONSSYSTEM FUER SCHNELLSTRASSEN UND AUTOBAHNEN

A new car-driver-control and information documentation system provides the driver with continuous and automatic information relevant to his journey. This information includes signposts before each junction or exit, road and weather conditions and recommended speed limits. The information is provided after the driver has made his destination known by means of an automatic keyboard. The apparatus can be installed in all vehicle types. It consists of an automatic keyboard, a transmitter, receiver, sign panel and aerial. In all cases, the apparatuses are installed beside the carriageway one kilometer before each junction. Induction slides which are connected to the apparatuses and serve as transmitters are built into the carriageway itself. The street apparatuses comprise a transmitter, a receiver and a reservoir containing thousands of destinations. They are also connected to a central receiver over which additional information is relayed. /TRRL/
