PLASTICIZERS, NEW CONCRETE ADMIXTURES
LES FLUIDIFIANTS, NOUVEAUX ADJUVANTS DU BETON
New admixtures called: "plasticizers" have recently appeared on the market in France; they change a stiff concrete in a soft one which can be placed with slight vibration without delayed hardening and reduction in mechanical strength. If the design and proportioning are correct, there is no segregation nor bleeding. These kinds of admixtures are known and widely used in Japan, Germany and the United Kingdom. This article describes the state of the art of plasticizers, examines their nature and the properties they give to the concrete to which they are added, the way of using them, and the precautions to be taken. /TRRL/
