THE RELATION BETWEEN INTENSITIES AND ACCIDENT FREQUENCY ON FOUR-LANE MOTORWAYS
RELATIE TUSSEN VERKEERSINTENSITEITEN EN ONGEVALLEN OP VIERSTROOKS AUTOWEGEN
Based on Dutch data the authors conclude that short periods of very high traffic intensity on motorways with overall level of service E or F are accompanied by a much greater number of hours before and after, during which intensities are lower but accident frequencies are higher. Therefore the weighted averages over the whole day will be higher than those which can be calculated for motorways with a higher level of service. /TRRL/
