OPTIMIZATION STUDIES FOR A STANDARDIZED DRY BULK CARRIER
The report seeks to determine in what way, and to what extent, new approaches to ship design can be utilized to increase the portion of U.S. foreign trade dry bulk cargoes carried in U.S. flag ships. The study is oriented to determining ship characteristics of standardized bulk carriers that could lead to significant cost savings if the designs were modularized for series production of relatively large numbers of ships.
