HEATER REMIX-SLURRY SEAL METHOD OF RECYCLING ASPHALT PAVEMENTS

Sequence of revitalizing old asphalt pavement followed by slurry sealing is described. The theory for heater remixing is based on the fact that oxidation or aging of asphalt occurs most rapidly at the surface, which is in contact with the elements. Compaction is performed immediately following scarification after the loosened material has been screeded and smoothed by rakers. An aromatic resin softening agent or combination rejuvenator and tack coat is then applied to the preheated surface.
