PROBLEM OF DETERMINING THE CAPACITY OF A SHIP'S ELECTRIC POWER PLANT
Determination of the capacity of a ship's electric power plant at the design stage is discussed. The correlation between electric power plant capacity, output of the main engine (when operating), and deadweight (when moored) was investigated. A wide range of statistical data were processed and analysed. Practical formulae for obtaining the maximum, minimum, and average electrical load of a plant performing basic duties in summer and winter, as well as in operational and harbour modes are tabulated.
