NORTH SEA PIPE-LAYING EXPERIENCE TRIMS COSTS
Other than the cost of a fixed platform, a pipeline is usually a major expense for an offshore field development project. The authors give some hints on how to predict the cost of a pipeline project, and then show how the development of new technology has helped trim the costs of North Sea pipe-laying construction. Limitations and costs of different types of laying vessels are discussed and compared. Also discussed are the costs of trenching or burying, and line pipe.
