URGENT NEED FOR IBC STANDARDS AND TESTS
The article discusses various aspects of the problem, including materials, unit design, and IBC trends. The move to intermediate bulk containers (IBCs) represents an evolutionary, rather than a revolutionary phase in the transport of bulk cargoes, yet has produced five- and six-fold increases in the sales of some IBCs over the past year. As a result, vast number of different types of IBC are coming on to the transport scene with little or no standardization even in relation to safety.
