THERMAL CONDITIONS OF MOULD FILLING IN THE PRODUCTION OF BRONZE MARINE PROPELLERS

Temperature losses and gradient distributions during the pouring of marine propeller molds have been investigated by measuring the temperature of the bronze (Br. AZhN9-4-4) in the ladle, the pouring cup and various parts of the mold cavity. The jet-stream filling behavior of uphill poured molds influences the temperature distribution in the molten metal. The jet streams must be allowed for when calculating the thermal aspects of mold filling.
